  • Fines/tolls/claims information (e.g., infringement notices, toll events, insurance and damage claims, debt recovery status).

3. How we collect personal information

  • Directly from you: when you request a quote, make or manage a booking, complete Online Check-in, pick up your vehicle, contact us, or enter a competition.
  • Our websites and digital channels: through cookies and similar technologies that help us improve your experience and personalise content.
  • Third parties: including travel agents/OTAs, payment processors, toll/fine processing providers, roadside assistance and repair partners, insurers, marketing and analytics providers, and (where lawful) other rental providers and authorities for safety/fraud prevention.
  • Public sources: limited information from publicly available sources (e.g., review platforms or social media) to understand and improve our services.

4. Purposes for using your personal information

  • Provide and manage bookings and rentals, including additional drivers and extras.
  • Verify identity and driver eligibility; meet legal and contractual requirements.
  • Process payments, deposits, security holds, refunds, and chargebacks.
  • Administer fines, tolls, penalties, and damage/insurance claims.
  • Communicate with you about your booking, pickup/drop-off, support requests, and service updates.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve our websites and services; run analytics and measure performance.
  • Prevent, detect and investigate fraud, unsafe or illegal activity, and protect people and property.
  • Conduct customer research and surveys; gather and publish aggregated, de-identified insights.
  • Send marketing communications (only as permitted by law) and personalise offers; you can opt out at any time.
  • Comply with laws, respond to lawful requests, and exercise or defend legal claims.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, remember preferences, understand performance, and personalise content.   • Other rental providers and authorities where reasonably necessary to protect public safety, prevent fraud or unsafe driving, or recover stolen property.
  • Professional advisers (lawyers, auditors) and potential buyers/assignees in connection with a business transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.
  • Law enforcement, regulators, and courts where required or permitted by law.

7. International transfers

Some recipients (for example, cloud hosting, analytics, communications, or payments providers) may be located outside New Zealand. Where we transfer personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure that the recipient is subject to comparable privacy safeguards (or other lawful transfer mechanisms) and that your information remains protected.

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Our services and website are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information about children.

To operate our rental fleet safely and comply with legal obligations, we may process information relevant to your rental, including driver verification, infringements, tolls, damage and insurance claims, incident reports, and contact/booking details for passengers and additional drivers. Where installed, vehicle systems may capture limited diagnostic or usage information needed for maintenance and safety.
